Accommodations in La Fortuna – Hotel Los Lagos
Just minutes from downtown La Fortuna, Hotel Los Lagos is our home away from home in Costa Rica. Each spacious, air-conditioned room features private bathrooms, cable television, refrigerators, and safety deposit boxes for your comfort and convenience. After a rewarding day of volunteering and adventure, unwind at the resort’s natural hot springs, take a dip in one of the swimming pools, or explore hiking trails with spectacular views of Arenal Volcano. Additional amenities include daily housekeeping, a full-service restaurant, a gift shop, and laundry facilities to make your stay effortless and enjoyable.
Community Service Projects
Each weekday morning, participants dedicate their time and energy to one meaningful service project for the duration of their stay in La Fortuna. Options include:
- Volunteering at a preschool, engaging with young children and assisting local teachers.
- Helping at a wildlife rescue center, providing care and support for injured and orphaned animals.
- Contributing to a sustainability project, working on environmental conservation efforts.
- Caring for rescue dogs, providing love and assistance at a local dog sanctuary.
By sticking with the same project throughout the program, participants develop strong connections with the community and see the direct impact of their efforts, making the experience even more meaningful.
Afternoon and Evening Activities
After a rewarding morning of community service, the afternoons are all about adventure! Costa Rica’s incredible natural surroundings set the stage for thrilling activities and unforgettable experiences. Some of the exciting excursions include:
- Waterfall Canyoning – Rappel down jungle waterfalls for the ultimate adrenaline rush!
- Arenal Hanging Bridges – Walk across suspension bridges high above the rainforest canopy.
- Whitewater Rafting – Paddle through exciting rapids on the Arenal River.
- La Fortuna Waterfall – Hike through the rainforest to a stunning 200-foot waterfall.
- Hot Springs Relaxation – Unwind in La Fortuna’s famous natural mineral hot springs.
- Costa Rican Cooking Class – Learn to prepare authentic local dishes with expert chefs.
